The fabric is real and doesn’t feel fake.However, don’t make the mistake I made and absolutely double check the size you’re getting, luckily it’s not a huge issue for me since I’m hanging it on my ceiling but for someone who’s getting it for a wall just be mindful! The first day or so after I got it out the package, the smell of the dyes were definitely noticeable, but it's nothing that bad and it'll go away pretty soon. Upon putting it on my wall I realised that the image itself was far from straight, I even measured the edges of the fabric so that it was lined up well. It's as if they've just cut up some fabric and added hems and then quickly printed the image onto the fabric without aligning it properly. I didn't expect it to be perfect but it's far from acceptable! It's a case of either putting the fabric at an angle, which looks stupid, and having the print look somewhat straight or I put the fabric straight and have the print looking well off. Either option looks stupid. No option to replace or exchange either and I have to go out my own way to return it,despite Amazon coming to my door with another package tomorrow. Why can't they drop another one off and collect this one? Avoid.It's nice, don't get me wrong... but the vibrant colours in the pictures give a false impression of what you will actually receive... which is a duller and muted version which is also slightly different in the design...a shame really...if it had been as advertised it would have been fantastic...I ordered King size, on the bag it arrived in it said king sized, got the measuring tape out, it was not king sized, but was 'full' sized. So ultimately I didn't get what I ordered. The colours are indeed as others have mentioned, much darker in tone to what the misleading pictures would have you think.However, the quality is fine for me, no holes, or stitching problems or frayed sides. No funny smells or anything, picture quality is great and clear. It is perfectly square and level.I ordered the Purple and Gold which looks vibrant, deeply purple and contrasting gold but sadly I seem to have got a washed out faded blue, red and yellow design. The item advertised does not match what I received.
